American Legion Boys State is among the most respected educational programs of government instruction for high school students. Each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county and state government. Boys State has been a program of The American Legion since 1935, and thousands of young men have benefitted from this experience, including hundreds from the Great Bend area. Our son Allen was a delegate in 1999, and I would like to challenge anyone who has attended or has had a son attend to donate $50 to help support this program. Donations are down this year, and we need your help. Please send your donation to Argonne Post 180, Box 721, Great Bend KS, 67530, as soon as possible. We have a March 31 deadline to meet, and we have nine young men that want to attend this year.
