Dear Editor,
The Great Bend Military Moms recently sent out another 100 care packages to brave men and women who are serving so far away from home. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all who have supported this project, which is now 12 years old and more than 5,500 boxes sent! It brings me to tears, just thinking about how our wonderful central Kansas communities have pulled together and helped to make a difference in the lives of those who choose to serve our country. It is our hope that as each package is opened, they can feel the love, respect and support we try to stuff in there - along with all of those snacks, games, DVDs, cds, and personal care items packed inside those boxes!  
Also, I personally want to thank everyone involved, for the wonderful honor of being named Grand Marshal of Great Bend’s “Home for the Holidays Parade” – even though the weather did not cooperate this year. I am very thankful that is was cancelled to protect people and animals from the ice and bitter cold! The many calls, texts, messages, emails and comments I’ve received have warmed my heart and fueled my soul. I cannot thank you enough!
As you gather with your loved ones during this Christmas and New Year season...please remember those families with empty chairs at the table, who wait and pray and worry every hour of every day – until their loved one is home safe and sound. Also, please pray for the families of those who gave their lives for the cause of freedom around this world – may they rest in peace... .
We are always preparing for our next shipments, by gathering military addresses and donations. If you know of anyone who is currently serving in the war zone areas – we don’t care where they are from – please contact me at the following number. The addresses will be kept confidential and will only be used for the purpose of send them care packages. They all deserve to know they are loved and appreciated!!
