Hoisington seeking volunteers
Placeholder Image

Dear Editor,
Hoisington is a small town who takes care of its own people. We have public transportation to get our residents to doctor appointments, to the store, to the bank. We also offer Friendship Meals to those that want to come eat with us. We have so many using our trolley, that it is usually fairly busy. Lately our trolley has been sitting. We need drivers! Yes, this is a volunteer position, but you receive your meal for free, and the good feeling of knowing you have helped your fellow citizens.
If you could drive one day, even every other week, would be greatly appreciated. All we are asking for is 6 1/2 hours of your time. We have around 500 riders each month. The trolley has a purposed: transportation for those without a ride. We collect 25 cents for one-way, 50 cents to and from. You can’t run your errands on that small of a fee with your personal vehicle. I hope you think about volunteering. It may be your relatives that use us. When you get older, who is going to be able to take you to your appointments?
We are also looking for volunteers to help deliver Meals on Wheels. This only takes about 30-45 minutes. Sometimes is the only friendly face they may see all day.
Citizens, please help us. We would hate to lose those assets.
