Congratulations to the “committee to Honor Jack Kilby” for the selection of John Holt to emcee the unveiling ceremony of the Kilby statue in front of the Barton County Courthouse on April 28th. It was my good fortune to have had John Holt as a student 35 years ago. He was a splendid student and student body leader who has gone on to achieve high honors in broadcast journalism.
Jack Kilby’s statue is destined to rival his worldwide and home renown. This community is blessed to have had Kilby among our midst in his early years. Additionally, Kilby’s sculptor is by one of our own – Chet Cale. It is fittingly proper that the “committee” chose John Holt to emcee the unveiling ceremony. It will be quite a program.
