Dear Editor,
Issues matter. Petty attacks don’t.
Character is implicated when one misrepresents the facts.
If anyone doubts where Christina Stein stands on Obamacare, go to kansasfreepress.com and read her article of Jan. 5. She wrote an article on it. It is not necessary to “cherry pick words” or “twist and take out of context” to conclude that she supports something even more radical than Obamacare. When I say that she thinks the Obama bill doesn’t go far enough, and that it was a “watered down version of what we as Americans need” but that “it is progress” you are seeing a fair representation of the article. Look it up. If you don’t have Internet, I can supply paper copies.
One of the features of this debate is that people making my point usually tell you where to look at her articles. Christina Stein can run an entire full page ad featuring “political party boss Dick Friedeman” and lurid covers from the National Enquirer, but never tell you where to look up the facts.
Christina Stein also wrote an entire article on the Obama Stimulus Bill. She supports it and says “the news channels try to rile our fears about federal spending and President Obama.” This is not a quote taken out of context. Please look it up in her article of Feb. 20. Frankly, most Republicans and not a few Democrats are scared to death about federal spending. We don’t want somebody who thinks as she does in our legislature.
I assume everybody, including people who support the Obama Health Care Bill, and the Obama Stimulus Package, would be concerned about somebody who gets so worked up trying to deny something that can easily be looked up on the Internet.
I don’t really mind the attacks on me, since I know I’m telling the truth, and can prove it, the attacks don’t bother. I am especially forgiving of other people’s mothers. But you can look up the articles and see. While you are on the website, also look up her biography.
My guess is that the next letter from the Christina Stein side will be an article from somebody who will say they have looked it up and disagree. If that happens, be sure to look it up for yourself.
Dick Friedeman,
Great Bend
