Lincoln had it right -- be thankful

Dear Editor,
A thank you to Chuck Smith and the Tribune for the Nov. 18 column: “Let’s be thankful.”
The use of Abraham Lincoln’s original Thanksgiving message from 1863 is a splendid reminder to us in 2011.
Lincoln’s knack of using words is a gem for the ages and his words of then still apply today.
Especially meaningful was the conclusion: “in each time of challenge, the people of Christ continue to find their only reason for genuine hope, through Him.
“Be thankful.”
What a meaningful refrain.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Great Bend
