Steve Jobs won't get you into heaven

Dear Editor,
I am really struggling with all the hoopla surrounding the death of Steve Jobs.
Jobs was a great man in this world.
His accomplishments changed our world greatly, but that does not give him a right standing with God or a place in heaven for all eternity.
Steve Jobs was no different than any other human being in the sight of God. He was either a believer in Jesus Christ or he wasn’t.
In John 3:18 of the Holy Scripture it says, “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
I’m not writing this to judge or condemn Steve Jobs.
I just want people to wake up to the truth of their eternal situation.
Everybody does not go to heaven when they die. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate.
The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.”
The way is narrow because it is the way of Christ. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
If a person does not believe in, place there faith in, rely upon, cling to, hold to, adhere to, depend upon and trust in Jesus the Christ for their salvation they are headed for destruction.
Ephesians 2:1-6 teaches us plainly, “Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world.
He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.
All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
I do not write to condemn people.
I want you to know the truth so that you might be saved from an eternity separated from God.
I write because I am concerned for your eternal future.
If I didn’t care I wouldn’t be trying to reach you with the truth of God’s Word.
