To the editor:
We have had quite a week of learning about or hearing outrages from or about the trump administration. It began with trump on the holiest day of the Christian calendar posting a profanity filled truth social tirade in which he praised Allah. It includes trump talking during the week about “taking” Iran’s oil. It includes learning that since May of 2025 more than 10,000 veterans have lost their homes since the administration shut down a program designed to help veterans keep their houses.
It includes learning that the CDC has stopped testing for a whole range of vicious infectious diseases. It includes VP Vance going to Hungary to campaign for an autocrat, Victor Orban, with Vance complaining without evidence that Ukraine is trying to influence elections in the United States (while VP Vance is obviously trying to influence the election in Hungary). It includes acting Attorney General Todd Blanche making comments that indicate that he thinks his boss is trump (he’s not, we are his boss). It includes Blanche saying the Epstein files “should not be part of anything going forward” at the DOJ and that Pam Bondi should not honor a subpoena concerning Epstein.
It includes learning that the Pentagon threatened Pope Leo XIV. It includes trump on April 7 saying that he is considering a joint venture with Iran to collect tolls from ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
But the worst one for me was trump’s April 7 post “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” a post made by a person with the nuclear button, and a post which Pope Leo XIV immediately condemned.
Do you know the one thing all these outrages have in common? It is the “silence is acquiescence” of our two trump sycophant senators Marshall & Moran and our three trump sycophant representatives Mann, Estes, & Schmidt. Mann is so oblivious that he continues to post in his newsletters that “I did not come to Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America” while he silently watches trump blow up our democratic republic. If we are going to survive as the nation our founders envisioned, they all need to be voted out at the earliest opportunity.
