Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! We have another exciting week of fall programming ahead. Starting with Thursday the 10th, it’s Adult Craft Night. We will be repeating our Resin Craft. Since it was so wildly popular last time, we have decided to do it again to hopefully allow for those turned away or otherwise unable to attend the chance to make their own resin coaster.
Monday is bingo time! We will be having another adult bingo the morning of Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. Play a round of bingo and win some fabulous prizes. The first bingo card is free, but if you like the thrill of running multiple cards at a time, make a donation for up to four more (while supplies last). Your generous donations will help fund this event and future rounds of bingo.
Tuesday the 15th marks the return of another Early Literacy Story Time at 10:30 a.m. Early Literacy Story Time is an active time for little learners ages 0-5 featuring early literacy skills, picture books, finger plays, songs, rhymes, music, art, and movement.
Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. is our next Open Book Club meeting. We will be discussing this month’s book “In True Face.” “A former female spy for the CIA during the height of the Cold War discusses the challenges of overcoming a prevailing culture of sexism while undertaking dangerous missions across the globe in this Kansas Notable Book.” There is still time to grab a copy at the front desk to read in time before the book club.
Wednesday is our first help hour for our Cross Stitch Club. We have a few spots left if any kiddos want to join in! No experience is necessary. We will learn the basics of cross stitch and get started on making Pusheen, the Internet’s adorable chubby tabby who has warmed the hearts of millions with her animated GIFs and comics. This all-in-one kit includes everything you need to create cute embroidered designs of everyone’s favorite lazy, lovable feline. We only have a few spots left for third through twelfth graders, so this will be a first come, first served event for those not already registered.
Lastly, Thursday is our next Teen Manga and Anime Club. For September’s club meeting, we’re covering “Pokémon Adventures” by Hidenori Kusaka. “Red doesn’t just want to train Pokémon, he wants to be their friend too. Bulbasaur and Poliwhirl seem game. But independent Pikachu won’t be so easy to win over! And watch out for Team Rocket, Red ... They only want to be your enemy (Goodreads)!” Afterwards, we’ll learn to play the card game and have a mini tournament. Copies of October’s title, “Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun” by AidaIro, will be available for pickup.
