Dear Editor
The June 29, edition of The Hutchinson News carried an article about the Kansas Chamber of Commerces PAC Committee, (Political
Action Committee)) endorsements in the Aug. 2, primary election.
This is the same organization that was instrumental in the 2012 election in the 33rd. District of State Senator Mitch
Holmes, R., St. John. He attracted a lot of attention recently on a national level with his proposal of a dress code for women testifying before his Senate committee. It included the wording “low neck lines, mini-skirts, etc.” Really? Needless to say,
this did not fly.
Now Senator Holmes has decided to retire from the current senate race, leaving Mary Jo Taylor, R. of Stafford to face Larry Salmons, R. of Hanston in the 33rd Senate District. The PAC Committee is endorsing Larry Salmons, and my question is, will Mr. Salmons continue the agenda set by the Committee to destroy Kansas thru Govenor Brownback’s irresponsible dictate?
In the past Gov. Brownback has successfully removed moderate Republicans, such as Ruth Teichman, 33rd District Senator in 2012. Look where the state is now. We are losing teachers to other states, rural health care is struggeling to stay afloat, funding cuts to our roads and the Kansas Public Retirement System. The list goes on and on.
Finally, we have the opportunity to elect a Senator that is well qualified to serve our state. I urge you to vote for Mary Jo Taylor, a proven leader as Superintendent of Stafford USD 349 for 15 years. Taylor was born in Pratt and always lived and worked in rural Kansas. She understands the problems associated with the leadership and financial condition of Kansas.
As you vote for new leadership in Kansas, please consider Mary Jo Taylor. Make your vote count. Vote for common sense
solutions to real problems. Vote Mary Jo Taylor.
