To the editor:
The League of Women Voters of Kansas wants to alert Kansans about a hearing of the Special Elections Committee of the Kansas Legislature being held on Sept. 27 and 28. The only oral testimony being allowed at this hearing is from people claiming that there was voter fraud in the last election.
LWV of Kansas wants to reassure Kansans that our last election was secure, with no significant evidence of voter fraud that would have changed the outcome. And we question why no individual or organization like LWVK is being allowed to refute with oral testimony and evidence, the conspiracy theories that will be aired at this legislative hearing. For more information about the safety and security of our elections, go to this website of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA): https://www.cisa.gov/rumor-vs-reality. Also, a reminder that the deadline to Register to Vote is Oct. 17. You can register at ksvotes.org or call your county elections office or county clerk to have them mail you a registration form. You can also go to that office to register in person.
Make your voice heard! Voting is a privilege not available everywhere in the world. It is an important responsibility, and the only way to ensure the effectiveness of citizen participation in, and the continuation of, our democracy itself.
