Officials should right their wrongs
Public Forum.jpg

To the editor:

Some thoughts for the City, County and State Officials and appointed non-elected bureaucrats:

I do not know who is responsible for determining which businesses were essential or non-essential, but you are all complicit (1st Amendment). This deed is done. Now it is your duty to right your wrongs.

You (City Officials, County Commissioners, State Officials) need to immediately consider refunding property tax (pro-rated) on the non-essential businesses. To do that the government will have to shrink. Can you do this? Do you have the authority? Yes to both! Do you have the will? In the future, when these things arise again, I pray you thing the things through.

In the past a few have died for the many (Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam and the Middle East today). This is a war and the same process of thinking should happen in pandemics.

Many millions of lives will never be the same. So do your elected jobs. Make this right for non-essential businesses.

Elections have consequences. Live free or die.
