To the editor:
In Great Bend Tribune’s May 21, 2021 edition, Alicia Straub was complaining of the happenings at a local 4-H meeting held in April.
She stated “...the meeting was called off and we were all sent home because I, as your State Senator, refused to put a mask on and refused to put a mask on my children...”
I’m tired of people who think they are “somebody” and flaunt it.
You being a State Senator had absolutely nothing to do with the 4-H meeting.
You were there as a private citizen, a mother of 4-H children with her children.
You knew the protocols to attend a face to face meeting.
If you and your children didn’t like the mask requirements you could have participated in the meeting via a ZOOM line. You were not totally left out of the meeting.
Abiding by the mask requirement at that time was no different than a business requiring masks to enter, even after the county mandate was lifted.
If you chose not to wear one, you didn’t enter.
And to add to your arrogance, you used the latest legislative update meeting to get on your soapbox and espouse your animosity toward Kansas State University (thus the local Extension and Research District).
Quite unprofessional!
