Thank you so much for the Great Bend track article and photos in the April 10, 2020, Great Bend Tribune. 

It really matters for you to recognize the lost titles, medals and dreams that athletes have worked toward for so many years. The heartbreak of never running again with relay teams that have taken a lifetime to put together can be overwhelming for a high school athlete. 

For students being recruited for college athletics or those that need the incentive of sports to keep them performing in academics, the cancellation could be life altering.  

The sacrifice was necessary and is definitely worth saving the lives of our community members. 

However, it is a terrible loss that deserves a moment of mourning nonetheless.
