Summer Fun
There's still much to do

Labor Day may be the unofficial end of summer, but in fact autumn is more than a week away.
So, if you missed the final Summer Street Stroll Farmers Market and free outdoor movie last night in Barton County’s courthouse square, don’t think the summer fun has come to a complete stop.
Just turn to page 2 of today’s Tribune and check out the “Breakfast Briefing” for this weekend. On Sunday the list will expand for another week – the last week of summer – to include the much-anticipated Party in the Park, an all-day event at Veterans Memorial Park. And Great Bend’s “other” farmers market will continue to do business every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning at the library parking lot for the rest of summer and into October.
Sunday, Sept. 22, is the official date for the autumn equinox and the beginning of fall. That is the date where, at the equator, there are exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. Days are growing shorter and will continue to do so until the winter solstice on Dec. 21, the shortest day of the year.
Great Bend will also have some fun events during the first week of fall, including the Big Bend Bike Rally, Renaissance Festival and the Golden Belt Run for Life. But this week, enjoy the end of summer.
