According to recent surveys, some people are taking a break from Facebook. What will be the future of this social media? Will it go the way of email, which is mostly used for business?
Back in the dark ages, when email first came out, it was used for many types of communication. It eventually evolved mostly into the sending of jokes.
Now it is used primarily for business communications. Texting and cell phone usage have taken its place for personal communication.
Facebook usage seems to be evolving the same way, especially since they have begun charging for some services such as sending a message to someone who isn’t a “Friend.”
At first, it was fun to contact long-lost high school or college friends. But the famous “overshare” or sharing what one ate for dinner is pretty boring— especially if one hasn’t seen that person for a decade or two.
However, it can be a terrific way to communicate quickly and easily with a wide group of close friends and relatives.
Some would consider it a waste of time. And, of course, the jokes are starting to come.
Will Facebook be the next fading fad? Are people tired of friend requests from people they don’t know?
Facebook stock has never been as popular as many thought it would be.
It will be interesting to see what the future will holds for this social media for sure.
Will its luster fade or will there always be some users?
Will it go the way of MySpace?
Again, only the future will tell if Facebook will go the way of the pet rock, but it seems as though it might in our fast-paced world.
