To the editor:
All registered voters in Kansas can vote in the upcoming special election this August 2nd. Advanced in-person voting begins July 13 and mail-in ballot requests can be submitted up until July 26. A very important issue is on this ballot. If you think the law should remain as it is that keeps abortion safe and legal here, then vote NO.
If you think abortions under any circumstances should be prohibited, then vote yes to change the existing law.
Voting yes to change our law “to protect them both” does not do as you might expect it to. It may be difficult to get any OBGYN services if our current law is canceled. Our medical personnel will fear losing their licenses and or facing criminal charges for performing common D&C procedures. We may lose them to other states that are not restrictive. Our childbearing-age teens and women will not be able to access the health care that they need. They could possibly die from a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.
Women may not want to live in a state that does not value them. Think about that.
