BARTON 10, NORTH IOWA 9 – Cesar Gomez walk-off two run single lifted Barton Community College to a 3-game baseball sweep over North Iowa Community College.

The Cougars (11-4) drops the Trojans to 5-9 entering Thursday's 1 p.m. Jayhawk League home doubleheader against Butler Community College.

Holding a 6-3 lead through six innings, the NIACC bats got to the Cougar bullpen in the top of the seventh with four runs to take a 7-6 lead while extending it with a run in the top of the eighth. Robby Bolin roped a game tying two-out triple for an 8-8 tie.

The Trojans led 9-8 on a sacrifice fly.

Grant Nottlemann walked and advanced to third when Jaron Cotton reached on an error. Gomez delivered the game-winning 2-run single after an earlier 2-run double.

Preston Golden (2-0) earned the victory after starter Bradley Feezer pitched  5-plus innings with three strikeouts.

The Cougars swept North Iowa 6-0 and 15-5 in Friday’s doubleheader. The Cougars’ starters threw 13 shutout innings keyed by 23 hits.

BARTON 6, NORTH IOWA 0 – Reece Hemmerling threw a 2-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. Robby Bolin preserved Hemmerling's shutout with an over-the-fence catch in left center that prevented a 3-run fifth-inning homer.

Ayden Hadley's RBI double scored Bolin. Nottlemann scored on a wild pitch and Wyatt Yetter scored off Cooper Tabor's sacrifice bunt for a 3-0 lead.

Cole Schieffer delivered an RBI double. Owen Clyne's 2-RBI single scored Gomez and Bolin.

BARTON 15, NORTH IOWA 5 – Aidan Sowers (1-0) worked 62/3 innings with eight strikeouts before yielding four unearned runs. Reliever Nathan Bowman struck out the final batter.

Schieffer's sacrifice fly led to a 1-0 lead. Clyne's hit an RBI double for a 2-0 lead.

Barton broke the game open with a 13-run sixth inning keyed by 11 hits. Tabor and Bolin each drove home two runs. Bolin, Yetter and Gomez tripled in the sixth.
