BARTON 12, KANSAS WESLEYAN JV 2 –Owen Clyne's 4-for-4 day at the plate with two-round trippers sparked the Cougars to a 13-2 road victory over Kansas Wesleyan JV at Salina's Dean Evans Stadium. Clyne delivered a season high seven RBIs to pace the Barton offense. He drilled a seventh-inning homer and 2-run shot in the ninth.
Cesar Gomez scored three runs with three hits. Robby Bolin extended a 17-game hitting streak with two hits, two doubles and an RBI. The Cougars delivered nine extra base hits and 15 hits.
Barton (14-6) plays at home Thursday against Colby. The second twin bill is Saturday at Colby.
Grant Nottlemann's pinch hit triple in the eighth and doubles by Wyatt Yetter and Kaden Stones rounded out Barton's season high nine extra base hits.
Parker Volski (1-0) worked four innings yielding one run with four strikeouts. Five Barton relivers finished the ballgame.
Cougars split with Grizzlies
EL DORADO – Wyatt Yetter homered and drove in four runs as Barton Community College’s baseball team gained a split with Butler Community College with a 15-5 victory in Sunday’s second Jayhawk Conference game. Barton (13-6, 2-2 Jayhawk) drops Butler to 10-8, 2-2 Jayhawk.
BUTLER 15, BARTON 5 – Barton’s Robby Bolin homered and drove home two runs. Jaron Cotton, Grant Nottlemann and Cesar Gomez drove home runs.
Butler’s Mitch Kobuszewski homered and drove in four runs. Cole Morrell doubled, homered and drove home two runs.
BUTLER 15, BARTON 5 – Barton’s bats broke through with 15 runs, 18 hits and five extra-base hits. Owen Clyne, Ayden Hadley and Cotton each drove home two runs. Bolin, Gomez and Brock Howard drove in runs.
Cotton and Yetter each delivered four hits. Bolin extended a 16-game hitting streak with three hits.
