The Butler Community College softball team clinched the Jayhawk Conference championship outright today as they shut out Barton Community College twice at Cougar Field, 7-0 and 11-0.

The Cougars mustered only two hits and committed five errors as Butler plated three runs in the fourth and sixth innings on the way to the game one victory. The Grizzlies exploded for 11 in the first two innings of the second game by scoring six in the first and five in the second.

With the two losses, Barton drops to 10-36 on the season and 4-12 in conference play.

Butler improves to 35-15 and 14-2 in the Jayhawk Conference. The Cougars will play their lone remaining home and regular-season game this Friday afternoon as they step out of conference play to host the Sterling College Junior Varsity.  Game time for the seven-inning doubleheader will be at 2 at Cougar Field.

In non-conference baseball action at Hesston on Wednesday night, Barton squeezed out a 10-8 victory in 10 innings.
