Barton women begin outdoor track season

The 2015 outdoor season started for the Barton Community College women’s track team this past weekend in a big way. The Cougars traveled to the University of Alabama to compete in a loaded John Mitchell Alabama Relays.
It did so with some good results.
Leading the way was a pair of runner-up efforts and another lowering of the school record by Lydia Mato.
Vanessa Style and Tasha Frazier each took a second place finish at the meet while Mato bested her school record time in the 5000m by 15 seconds.
Style was second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.67 while Frazier jumped 19-6 to place second in the long jump.
Mato was eighth in the 5000m but ran a 17:00.64 to best her own school record.
Other good efforts on the track for the Cougars included a seventh place finish by Widline Lageroy in the 400m in 57.02. O’Neisha Glover ran a 59.22 for 18th.
Tamara Style was 10th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.22.
Tamara Style teamed with Lageroy, Glover, and Brooklyn Polk to take sixth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:49.7. Tamara and Vanessa Style both ran on the 4x100m relay along with Glover and Lageroy in 47.43 for 11th.
In the throws the top effort was turned in by Elizabeth Evans who threw the discus 138-7 for 10th.
