LIBERAL — The Barton Community College girls' basketball team left Liberal on Saturday with its second loss in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.

The Cougars were routed by Seward County, 77-66.

Barton's head coach Keith Ferguson said that the biggest difference in the game was foul shots.

"The game started off OK," Ferguson said. "We just put them on the free-throw line too much. They made more free throws than we attempted in the game."

Ferguson said that the Cougars continued to climb back, but could never overcome the Saints.

"We came within one possession, but we were never able to catch them," Ferguson said. "Alisha (Fanshier) played better on Saturday, but Netanya (Jackson) had a rough night and Dionne (Harris) got into foul trouble."

Barton is now 7-8 overall and 0-2 in the KJCCC, putting them in eighth in the Western Division.

The Cougars host Dodge City on Wednesday night at 6.
