Bartons Castagnini, Garland selected as all-conference players

Barton Community College sophomores Federico Castagnini and Clayton Garland were recently named to the first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Jayhawk Western Division baseball team.  
The duo led the Cougars in nearly every offensive category as Barton finished 33-26 on the season.
Castagnini led the Cougars in runs batted in and three of the four extra base hit categories. The shortstop from Verona, Italy, batted .361 on the season getting 75 hits with a .563 slugging percentage, finishing second to Garland for the team lead.
The Creighton University signee led the Cougars with six home runs, 16 doubles and drove home 67 runs.  
Stealing 12-of-12 bases, Castagnini was second on the team to Garland in runs scored with 61 and triples with four.
Playing centerfield and batting in the cleanup position in the lineup, Garland led Barton in six major offensive categories.  
The Cheyenne, Wyo., native led the team batting .363 on the season with a .581 slugging percentage in pounding out 78 hits including nine triples.  
Crossing the plate in a team-leading 61 times and accumulating 125 total bases, Garland finished second on the team behind Castagnini with 57 runs batted in, 14 doubles and five home runs.
