The first in-season baseball poll by the NJCAA is out and with it a lot of new teams since the preseason poll back in January.
Among the new teams are the Barton Cougars, entering the poll at No. 11 after a stellar 13-3 start to the season, including a 9-game winning streak at the time the poll was released.
The Cougars are the highest ranked team from the Jayhawk Conference in the rankings with Neosho County on their heels at No. 13.
San Jacinto is the new No. 1 team, posting a 15-3 mark to start the year. San Jac was the preseason No. 3 ranked team. Chipola (17-6) the top team in the preseason comes in at No. 3 while Wabash Valley (13-2) is at No. 2.
Southern Nevada (18-4) and Santa Fe (19-4) round out the top five.
Two more Kansas teams received votes in the latest poll with Butler and Cowley landing just outside the top 20. Butler received 23 points and Cowley 18. Cowley started the season ranked No. 4 in the nation but are off to a 9-5 start to the season. Butler is 11-4.
Barton wrapped up its opening conference series Saturday at Dodge City and will host North Iowa Area Tuesday for a single 9-inning game before jumping back into Jayhawk West play Thursday with a trip to Garden City. The Broncbusters will be in Great Bend on Saturday at 1 p.m.
