HUTCHINSON — The Barton Community College men’s basketball team shocked Hutchinson 70-63 on Thursday night.
Hutchinson entered the game ranked No. 4 in the latest NJCAA poll.
The Cougars (15-3, 3-3) were led by Colin Beatty and Dwayne Brunson, who each pumped in 16 points. Brunson finished with a double-double grabbing 11 rebounds.
Beatty snatched eight boards.
Adam Young added 13 points and five rebounds for the Cougars, who finished the game shooting 40.6 percent from the field.

HUTCHINSON — The Barton Community College women’s basketball team saw a three-game winning streak in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division come to a close on Thursday night when the Cougars dropped an 81-58 ballgame to Hutchinson.
“It started out bad,” Barton head coach Keith Ferguson said. “We went 10 minutes in the first half without scoring.
“We were just outplayed, outhustled and outcoached.”
The Lady Blue Dragons (17-2, 4-1) sit at No. 20 in the latest NJCAA national poll.
Barton (10-9, 3-3) were led by Netanya Jackson. The 6-foot-4 post player pumped in 14 points while grabbing five rebounds for the Cougars.
“(Jackson) shot well tonight,” Ferguson said. “We didn’t get the ball to her enough. She was a matchup problem.”
Shea Shoemaker contributed 11 points, six rebounds and four steals against Hutchinson.
Alisha Fanshier also reached double digits with 10 points and also had four assists.
Dionne Harris, who had six points in the game, led the Cougars with eight rebounds.
Hutchinson leaned on Jackie Patterson, a 6-1 freshman, out of Frisco, Texas. Patterson rang up 16 points for the Lady Blue Dragons.
