BCC wins three of four games in El Dorado

EL DORADO — The Barton Community College baseball team scored 49 runs in a four-game series with Butler over the weekend, winning three of the four games.
On Saturday, BCC traded wins with Butler, winning the first game 6-4 but losing the second 10-7. The Cougars captured both games on Sunday, winning 12-8 and 24-12.
Barton improves to 30-16 overall and 18-10 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division. The Cougars are in second place in the West standings behind Seward County, which is 21-7 in the conference.
Going into the top of the seventh inning in the first game on Saturday, Barton was down 3-2, but a four-run inning turned the game around in the Cougars’ favor.
It started when Dylan Monroe, who was pinch hitting for Adam Geisick, hit a one-out single. Corey Sager, who came in to run for Monroe, stole second base and then scored on a Jordan Slade single to center field.
Slade advanced to second base on an error.
Mitch Slaughter, who had three hits and two RBIs, singled to left field to score Slader from second. Miller followed with an RBI single to center field, and Busboom drove in a run when he hit a sacrifice fly to right field.
In the second game on Saturday, Busboom led the Cougars with four RBIs. He had two hits and a walk.
Miller drove in a pair of runs for BCC as well.
On Sunday, Barton jumped ahead 6-4 after three innings and put the first game out of reach with a six-run sixth inning.
Eight players in the BCC lineup recorded a hit. Miller led the team with five RBIs, including a three-run double in the sixth inning.
Busboom added three RBIs, Michael Tennessen knocked in two runs and Slade drove in one.
The Cougars put up 24 runs in the final game to blowout Butler, 24-12.
Slauter led Barton with eight RBIs with three hits and a walk.
Frederico Castagnini and Slade each drove in four runs. Slade got four hits and a walk, and Castagnini got three hits and two walks.
