Cannon, Stapleton earn Player of the Week honors

A pair of Barton basketball players picked up Player of the Week honors for the first week of the season.
Marvin Cannon and Jaylin Stapleton were selected as the season’s first week honorees.
Cannon helped the Barton men to a 3-0 start to the season by averaging 17 points and seven rebounds, scoring in double figures in all three games.
He capped the week with a high of 25 points in 27 minutes of play. Cannon is a freshman from Richmond, Va.
Stapleton had an impressive debut for the Cougars, scoring 30 points her first game. The freshman from Meade helded guide the Barton women to a 2-1 start to the season.
Stapleton averaged 19 points for the three games in the week to go with 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists. She shot 47 percent from 3-point range.
Barton started Jayhawk Conference play last night and will have games this week at Garden City Wednesday then at home Saturday against Butler.
