MANHATTAN — Kansas State senior wide receiver Chris Harper has been selected to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl and will play for the North squad in the annual collegiate all-star game.
The Senior Bowl is set to be played at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. It will televised by the NFL Network.
Harper, the 40th player in K-State history to play in the game, has been a big-time playmaker since transferring from Oregon three years ago. The Wichita native started 31 of his 38 career games at K-State, including a streak of 16 straight and was a Second Team All-Big 12 performer by the league’s coaches and earned honorable mention honors from the Associated Press this season. In 2012, Harper hauled in 50 receptions for 786 yards and three touchdowns.
 For his career, Harper is tied for seventh in school history with 12 receiving touchdowns, while he is ninth in career receptions with 115 and 10th in career yards at 1,663.
The Senior Bowl is the nation’s most unique football game and football’s premier pre-draft event, annually featuring the country’s best senior NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South that are coached by the entire coaching staffs from two National Football League teams. The Senior Bowl is also attended by over 800 NFL coaches, scouts and other front office personnel each year.
The Senior Bowl is also a non-profit, charitable event that has donated over $4.2 million through the Food World-Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership over the last ten years.
The BCS No. 5-ranked Wildcats, who finished 11-1 during the regular season, face fourth-ranked Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 3. The game, which kicks at 7:30 p.m., can be seen live on ESPN.
