MANHATTAN — Coming off a 10-3 campaign in 2011 and a berth into the AT&T Cotton Bowl, the Kansas State football program began preparations for the 117th season in program history on Wednesday as players reported to the Vanier Football Complex.
Included in the group of more than 100 players that reported Wednesday were 2012 captains Arthur Brown, B.J. Finney, Collin Klein and Ty Zimmerman.
The Wildcats return 17 starters — the most since 2006 — and 42 total lettermen from last year’s squad. Of the 17 starters back, eight are on offense and six are on defense, while K-State also sees its kicker, punter and long snapper all return for 2012.
Kansas State will hold its annual media day on Friday, while the K-State Fall Football Kickoff is set for Saturday, Aug. 18, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Snyder and selected players will address the fans at approximately 6 p.m., with an hour-long autograph session to follow.
In the season opener, Kansas State hosts Missouri State at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1.
