COLBY — Barton Community College's women outscored Colby 41-12 after halftime for a 62-32 Jayhawk League basketball victory Tuesday.

The Cougars (21-9, 16-8 Jayhawk) earn the fourth seed and plays the Coffeyville/Colby winner in Tuesday's Region 6 Tournament. Colby drops to 8-21, 4-20 Jayhawk. 

Barton's reigning KJCCC Player of the Week Vivian Onugha contributed three assists, 16 points and 10 rebounds for her 12th double/double. Vivian Onugha dished three assists with 10 points and 12 boards for her 15th double/double. Quezia Bertoni scored 10 points. Darby Smith delivered a spark with seven points and six steals.

The Cougars converted 25 of 58 field goals (43%), 7 of 13 from 3-point range (54%). 

Colby's Aryanna Perez scored 11 points. Colby shot 12 of 46 (26%) with 22 turnovers. Sophie Bennet contributed eight points.  Shelia Lee hauled down nine rebounds.

NOTES – Barton has won the last 8 in the series. Barton has won last four in Colby and 10-of-last-11. Barton leads the series 34-4 in Colby and 69-10 overall.

PLAYER OF WEEK – Onugha was named the KJCCC Player of the Week in the final week's voting of the 2023-24 season.

She averaged 12.5 points and 10.5 rebounds against No. 14 Dodge City and No. 1 Hutchinson. Onugha grabbed seven offensive boards and shot 50%.

She scored 14 points and grabbed eight boards against Dodge City. Onugha followed with 11 points and 13 rebounds for her 11th double/double.

Onugha contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds for her 12th double/double.
