Cougar women slip one spot to No. 4 in NJCAA track poll

The Barton women’s track and field team fell one spot to No.4 in the nation in the latest NJCAA Indoor Track and Field poll.

Barton was third in the initial poll of the season last week.

Iowa Central remained the No. 1 team, well ahead of No. 2 Central Arizona. New Mexico Junior College is third followed by Barton and Monroe (NY) College.

The Top 25 poll by the United State Track and Field Association is based on a point total formula from actual times and distances.

The only team the same in the top five is Iowa Central with 352.35 points. Central Arizona moved up form No. 5 the previous week with 290.55 while New Mexico JC slipped one spot to third with 252.02 points.

Barton had 227.57 points while Monroe (NY) fell one spot with 205.22.

There are eight Jayhawk Conference schools ranked in the top 25 with four in the Top 10.

After Barton in the Top 10 is Cowley at No. 7 , Cloud County at No. 9 and Butler at No. 10

Also ranked in the Top 25 is Highland at No. 12, Coffeyville at No. 13, Hutchinson at No. 15 and Garden City at No. 17.
