COLBY — Robby Bolin extended a 21-game hitting streak as Barton Community College battled for a baseball twin bill sweep over Colby 13-11 and 8-7 Saturday. The Cougars (18-6, 6-2 Jayhawk) swept the 4-game series.

COUGARS 13, COLBY 11 — Barton's Wyatt Yetter hammered home five runs with a pair of doubles. The Cougars rallied from an 8-7 deficit with a 6-run seventh inning.

Jeron Cotton drove home two runs. Ayden Hadley, Owen Clyne, Bolin and Cooper Tabor drove home runs. Clyne, Hadley, Cole Schieffer and Cesar Gomez each scored two runs.

Reliever Nathan Bowman recorded two outs to earn a save.  

COUGARS 8, COLBY 7 — Barton's Cotton rescued the Cougars with two homers and a 4-RBI game. Clyne drove home two runs.

Reliever Jackson MacWilliams threw two shutout innings to earn a save.

Barton Community College's baseball team outscored Colby Community College 17-3 to sweep Thursday's Jayhawk League doubleheader. Barton (16-6. 4-2 Jayhawk) and Colby (2-18, 0-6 Jayhawk) play at Colby Saturday.

BARTON 8, COLBY 0 (G1)—Barton starter Reece Hemmerling (3-1) and reliever Nathan Bowman shut out Colby on a 6-hitter with 11 strikeouts. 

Barton's perfectly balanced offense featured eight players with RBIs and seven players with hits. Red-hot Jaron Cotton tripled, singled three times and scored two runs.

Robby Bolin extended a 18-game hitting streak. Cotton, Bolin, Owen Clyne, Ayden Hadley, Grant Nottlemann, Cesar Gomez, Cole Schieffer and Cooper Tabor drove in runs. Gomez delivered three hits.

Left fielder Schieffer robbed Colby's Gavin Shary of an extra-base hit with a highlight reel catch.

BARTON 9, COLBY 3 (G2) — Barton broke open the second game with a 5-run fifth inning. Nottlemann and Schieffer hit sacrifice flies. Wyatt Yetter contributed an RBI with a bunt. Gomez singled home a run and Tabor's triple scored a fifth run. 

Bolin extended a 19-game hitting streak with two singles and an RBI hit. Nine Cougars delivered base hits. Tabor drove home two runs with three hits. Cotton drove home two runs. Yetter had two hits.

In the seventh, Tabor's single drove in Gomez . Owen Clyne's sacrifice bunt and Cotton's sacrifice fly capped a 3-run inning.

Aidan Sowers (3-0) struck out four batters in seven innings. Colton Wahlstrom threw two innings and struck out two Trojans.
