The Barton Community College baseball team rebounded from Saturday’s losses to sweep Sunday’s doubleheader against Dodge City, winning the first game, 6-4, and the second, 14-2.
Barton improves to 14-26 overall, 9-15 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Western Division play.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning in Game 1. They added another run in the bottom of the third before Dodge scored two runs in the fifth.
Barton got those two runs back in the bottom of the fifth, taking a 5-2 lead into the sixth.
Both teams scored a run in the sixth, and the Conquistadors added another run in the seventh before Barton closed out the game for the win.
In Game 2, Dodge City struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the first.
The Cougars scored 14 unanswered runs over the next six innings for the lopsided victory.
Barton travels to Junction City for a nine-inning game against Brown Mackie on Wednesday night, starting at 7.

Lady Cougars suffer trio of losses at Colby tourney
COLBY — Barton’s softball team lost three games on Sunday during the Colby tournament.
The Lady Cougars fell 21-0 against Otero, 10-2 against Trinidad State and 12-4 against Lamar.
Barton drops to 8-19 overall this season.
The Lady Cougars return to Colby for a doubleheader on Wednesday. Game 1 starts at 3 p.m.

Barton women’s golf team takes second in Salina
SALINA — The Barton women’s golf team took second place at a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference meet on Monday at Salina Municipal Golf Course.
Dodge City beat the Lady Cougars in conference action for the first time this season, finishing with a combined score of 527. Barton shot a combined 530.
The Lady Cougars had five golfers finish in the top 10, led by Kaylee Crawford, who took third at 130.
Kara Koepplin shot a 132 for fourth place.
Maddie Sherman tied for fifth (133), Blakelee Cooper tied for seventh (137) and Staisha Miller tied for ninth (139).
Katie Seeman shot a 142, Abbie Roth finished at 142 and Kaylee Rudolph tabbed 160 for Barton.
