Cougars take third at NJCAA Region VI track championship

After three straight days at Barton Community College’s track complex, the National Junior College Athletic Association Region VI Outdoor Championship wrapped up on Saturday.
Hutchinson won the men’s competition with 132 points, and Butler captured a women’s title with 135.
The Cougars took third with 101 points, while the Lady Cougars finished in 14th with three.
The Barton men won the 4x100-meter relay, with Christian Black, Brien Berry, Rahim Cronwell and David Winters combining for a time of 41.43 seconds.
Tayron Reyes won the 800 run (1:57.29), and teammate David Berry finished in fifth (1:58.89).
Brien Berry and Winters finished first and second in the 200 dash with times of 20.73 and 20.96, respectively.
Keirston Lightbourne took second in the long jump (23-4) and the 110 hurdles (14.72). He finished third in the 400 hurdles (55.64).
Brien Berry seized third in the 100 dash (10.19), with teammate Winters right behind him in fourth (10.26).
Tony Green finished fifth in the triple jump (45-1 1/2).
The Cougars 4x800 relay, consisting of Reyes, David Berry, Tyler Lumpkin and Josh Watson, captured fifth place (8:01.30).
Rharshard Wright finished sixth in the 110 hurdles (15.24).
Brandon Stone took sixth in the high jump (6-4).
David Simmons finished in sixth place in the hammer throw with a heave of 148-3.
Kaileigh Dietrich finished sixth in the 1,500 run (5;30.24).
