Edward advances to semifinals; Facey just misses finals
Rio 2016

Alonso Edward’s quest for an Olympic medal is still alive. Simone Facey’s came to an end.
Edward cruised into the semifinals of the men’s 200m winning the first heat of the day. The Panama star ran a 20.19 to secure his spot in the semis.
The time was sixth best during the heats. He will run in the semifinals Wednesday.
Facey, meanwhile, just missed a spot in the women’s 200m final. She finished third in her heat with the top two making the finals.
The next two fastest times advanced as well but Facey missed by three spots. She ran a 22.57 and needed a 22.49 to reach the finals.
In men’s basketball, Antanas Kavaliauskas and Lithuania lost for a second straight game after opening group play with a 3-0 record.
Lithuania ended in a four-way tie at the top of Group B. That left Lithuania with the third seed in the group after the tiebreaker and a quarterfinal matchup with Australia.
That contest will be played at 9 am Wednesday. If Lithuania wins its quarterfinal game it would get the winner of the Croatia and Serbia game Friday.
