Simone Facey got her medal. The former Barton Cougar picked up a bronze medal running on the Jamaican 4x100m women’s relay team at the World Championship of Track and Field Saturday night in London.
Akeem Haynes was not able to medal as a member of the Canadian men’s 4x100m relay team that finished sixth.
Facey ran the third leg on the relay in the finals, helping the Jamaicans to the medal. She was joined by Jura Levy, Natasha Morrison, and Sashalee Forbes. The quartet ran a 42.19 for the third place finish.
The United States won the gold medal with a 41.82 and Great Britain picked up silver with a 42.12.
Haynes did not run in either the heats or the finals for Canada as a part of the 6-member relay pool for the country.
The 2017 edition of the World Championships will come to a close today.
