Former Barton Community College track and field athlete Tyson Gay finished fourth in the 100-meter dash at the 2012 London Olympics.
Gay finished with a time of 9.80 seconds on Sunday — just .01 behind third-place finisher Justin Gatlin, a 30-year-old American competitor.
Jamaica’s Usain Bolt silenced his critics with an Olympic-record time of 9.63 to secure the gold medal in his second-straight Olympics.
Gay has yet to compete in the 4x100 relay for the United States. The first round of the event starts on Friday.

Laverne Jones-Ferrette
Jones-Ferrette finished second in her heat of the first round of the 200 on Monday.
The Virgin Islands athlete finished with a time of 22.64 behind the United States’ Sanya Richards-Ross. It was her best time this season.
Jones-Ferrette is in the second heat of the semifinal round. She is the sixth seed in the heat, which competes today.

Antanas Kavaliauskas
Kavaliauskas scored six points and snagged five rebounds in Lithuania’s 76-63 come-from-behind victory over Tunisia.
He played more than 15 minutes in Lithuania’s final pool play game.
Lithuania sits in fourth in Group A behind France, USA and Argentina.

Veronica Campbell-Brown
Jamaica’s Campbell-Brown finished in the top three of her first-round heat in the 200 dash on Monday.
Campbell-Brown, who is the defending two-time gold medalist in the event, finished with a time of 22.75, just .37 short of her season best.
The semifinal heats run today. Campbell-Brown is the eighth seed in her heat.

Tugba Palazoglu
The 5-foot-8 guard finished with seven points in 26 minutes, 27 seconds on the court in Turkey’s 70-65 win over Croatia.
Turkey begins elimination games today against Russia.

Tabarie Henry
After qualifying for the semifinal round in the 400, Henry topped his season-best time but fell short of qualifying for the final heat.
Henry, a Virgin Islands native, turned in a time of 45.19 to finish sixth in his heat and 13th overall.
Henry’s semifinal time matched his time in the same round four years ago in the Beijing Olympics.
