WICHITA. — The KCAC Baseball and Softball Championships has been extended until spring 2025 at the Great Bernd Sports Complex. The conference and the Great Bend Recreation Commission have extended their partnership.

The 2023, 2024, and 2025 KCAC Baseball and Softball Championships will all take place at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

“Great Bend Recreation Commission looks forward to the KCAC Baseball and Softball Championships each year,” said Chris Umphres, Great Bend Recreation Commission director. “Our staff takes pride in this partnership and being able to put on an outstanding collegiate event.  Thank you for putting your trust in us to help host your conference championships!”

“The KCAC is delighted with Great Bend’s desire to continue as our partner in hosting the conference’s Softball and Baseball Championships through the 2025 season,” said Scott Crawford, KCAC commissioner.  “We appreciate the upgrades to the Great Bend Sports Complex, the hospitality felt by KCAC teams when in Great Bend, and the city’s commitment to putting on two excellent events.”

The KCAC Baseball and Softball Championship tournaments have taken place in Great Bend since 2014. The Great Bend Recreation Commission and the City of Great Bend have made significant improvements to the Great Bend Sports Complex during the past decade, including a $1.37 million project completed in 2022 to place turf on the infield and bullpen areas on all five ballfields at the facility.

“On behalf of the CVB & City Council, we are so very excited to continue to be the host and home of the KCAC Baseball & Softball Championships," said Christina Hayes, Great Bend CVB director. “Our community loves having each of these teams in town. We wear this honor for our sports complex proudly. Thank you so much for choosing Great Bend. We are so excited."
