It will be Homecoming on Saturday night at Barton Community College’s Kirkman Athletic Center. The Cougars host Seward County in a pair of crucial  Jayhawk Conference Western Division clashes.

The women’s game is set for 6, followed by the men’s game at 8. In between, at around 7:30, Homecoming festivities will take place with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen.

BCC’s women, 14-9 overall, have won three straight games to put themselves in sole possession of third place in the KJCCC Western Divison with a 6-3 record. Seward, based in Liberal, is in fifth place at 5-4 and 15-8 overall.

Barton has surged upward in the conference race, with St. John product Alisha Fanshier, a sophomore guard, leading the way, averaging team bests of 13.3 points per game, along with 69 assists. She has knocked down 12 3-pointers in the last three games.

Freshman guard Christina Caddy, who scored a game-high 18 points during an 80-71 win over visiting Cloud County on Wednesday night, is second on the team with a 12.7 scoring average.
