For the first five innings of Tuesday’s softball game between Barton Community College and Pratt, the Lady Cougars looked well on their way to winning their fourth game of the year.
Enter a disastrous sixth inning, and what was a 5-0 Barton lead quickly diminished to a two-run deficit as the Lady Cougars fell 7-5 in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Pratt capped the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference sweep with a 14-10 victory in Game 2 at Barton.
Barton’s Morgan Rohrbouck, who was the KJCCC Verizon Wireless Player of the Week, hit her third home run of the season to give the Lady Cougars an early 2-0 lead in the first game. She finished with six RBIs in the doubleheader.
Great Bend High School product Jordan Haney had a pair of RBIs in Game 1 for the Lady Cougars with a two-out double as she finished with five on the day.
Barton’s Emilia Davies had three RBIs in the second game.
Barton drops to 3-3 on season, while Pratt improves to 4-4. Barton returns to the diamond on Saturday as it heads to Hesston College for a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
