GARDEN CITY — The Barton Community College volleyball team won its Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference opener on Wednesday in Garden City, sweeping the Broncbusters in three sets 25-12, 25-9 and 25-20.
Leading the offensive charge was freshman Paula da Silva with 14 kills, while sophomore Gabriela Oliveira had nine kills.
Freshman setter Jasbelle Cruz had 17 assists with sophomore Juliana de Barros contributing 15 assists.
Defensively, the Lady Cougars were led by Oliveira’s 13 digs followed by sophomore Giselle de Moura with nine and freshman Ashley Archer with eight.
Barton takes to the road again this today, challenging Cloud County in conference action starting at 6:30 p.m. in Concordia.

Barton is encouraging its fans to show off their school pride today by wearing the school’s colors.
BCC will be participating in the national College Color Days.
