DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Overall consistency has been a hallmark of the Barton Community College women’s golf team under head coach Doug Kaiser and Wednesday’s third round of the NJCAA Women’s Golf National Championship held at the LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida, was no exception.
Shooting a 357 and 359 in the competition’s first two rounds, the Lady Cougars held steady in their ninth overall placing, shooting a combined 70 over par 358.
Freshman Natthakan Teeratrakul dropped to 18th place, falling three strokes back from Tuesday’s round to finish with an 82 but remains in contention for the 18-member All-Tournament Team.
Two Lady Cougars improved three strokes from the previous day as Kaylee Crawford fired an 89 to move into a tie for 48th while Blakelee Cooper’s improvement to 92 actually dropped her to 60th in the standings.
Being tied with Cooper through two rounds, Kara Koepplin’s 95 dropped her into a tie for 63rd while Madison Walden made the biggest jump of the day, shaving off seven strokes to finish with a 96 and move up into a 79th place tie.
Fellow freshman Abbie Thelen completed the Barton six to each have rounds under 100, finishing the course with a 99 to move into a tie for 76th.
With the final day of competition forecast calling for a high chance of rains, the Lady Cougars will start on the back nine with Thelen getting things started with a 10:10 a.m. Central Time tee off the box with the rest of the team beginning at 10:46 a.m.
