LAKE BARTON — The 14th Annual Cougar Open took place Friday as thirty teams came together in support of Barton Athletics at Lake Barton Golf Club.

Organized and sponsored by the Barton Booster Club under the leadership of chair Eric Gotsche, the annual event serves as a fundraiser for Barton Athletics through tournament participation, sponsorships, raffle opportunities, and the generosity of numerous donors.

The four-man scramble team of Brandon Wells, Matt Karlin, Lance Perez, and Cody Tutak captured the 2026 Cougar Open title, firing a 52 for a four-stroke victory over the field.

In the first flight, Jim Jordan, Casey Hubbard, Chuck Fellhoelter, and David Schenek carded a 59 to become the 11th team to post a score in the 50s, earning a one-stroke victory over four teams tied at 60.

Second flight honors went to the foursome of Jake Thompson, Mark VanNorden, Tad Parsons, and Jonathan Pike after carding a 63.

Through the generosity of tournament sponsors and donors, more than $6,000 in prizes were raffled throughout the event, with numerous additional prizes awarded through hole contests.
