MCPHERSON – No. 4 ranked Barton Community College men’s tennis team rallied for a 4-3 dual victory over No. 19 NAIA ranked McPherson College 4-3 Tuesday. Barton (8-0) won four singles matches after losing a trio of doubles matches.

The Cougars swept the top four singles wins to clinch the NAIA rules 1-point victory. Barton plays NCAA Division 2 Newman March 16 in the Stueder Contractors Cougar Classic.

“The guys had a monumental win at McPherson beating the reigning KCAC champions in an incredibly close dual,” said Barton coach Lyle Stickney. “Four of the singles matches came down to a third set super-tiebreaker. Fortunately, our guys prevailed in three of them to clinch the team victory. Hopefully, our men can keep playing at this level. It really is jaw-dropping watching them play.”
