Pair of BCC doubles teams, Seabra reach consolation semis

TYLER, Texas – Two Barton women’s tennis doubles teams will take their play into the consolation semfinals after scoring wins Tuesday at the NJCAA National Championships.

The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles team are both still alive for Barton at the Championships. Juliana Seabra also made it the consolation semifinals at No. 2 singles for the Cougars.

Seabra earned her way to the consolation semifinals with a close win over Nakita Hill of Eastern Arizona. Seabra picked a tiebreaker win over Hill, 8-7 (5). 

Seabra was also part of the No. 2 doubles team that is still alive. Seabra and teammate Karli Beck earned a trip to the consolation semis with an 8-3 win over Julie Sibbesen and Jamie Tubao of Harford. 

Barton’s No. 1 doubles team of Daniela Sanz and Idah Longwe are also still alive in Texas. The duo managed a 9-7 win over Collin County’s Alexandria Gilbert and Taryn Swanepoel, Collin County.

In the consolation semifinals, Seabra will take on Shannon McCarthy of DuPage in singles. Seabra and Beck will challenge Catherine Murphy and Casey O’Toole of State College of Florida in doubles.

The No. 1 doubles team of Sanz and Longwe will have to get by Mariana Alvarez and Rachel Rhett of Hinds to reach the consolation finals.
