So far so good for Peerada Piddon.
The Barton sophomore is a perfect 2-for-2 on the young golf season. After shooting under par at her home course in the Jayhawk Conference opener, the Thailand native breezed to her second title at the Coffeyville Open in Bartlesville, Okla.
Piddon shot 8-over par during the 36-hole event to win by 13 strokes. It was her second double digit win of the season.
The Barton women also won by nearly that same total, besting Seminole State (Okla.) by 15 strokes. The Cougars shot a 701 to win with Seminole State shooting 716 at the Adams Golf Club. Those were the only two teams to field a full squad.
“We played pretty well,” Coach Doug Kaiser. “It was hot. The heat index was over 100 both days. But the girls played through it.”
Piddon opened with a 6-over 78 the first day then came back to fire a 2-over 74 the final day for the easy win.
She was one of five Cougars to place in the top 10. McKenzie Fabrizius finished fourth and Kendra Jellison fifth.
Fabrizius was in second after the first day with an 83 but shot a 96 the second day to finish with a 179. Jellison was steady during the two-day event with a 90-92 – 182.
Miranda Kern finished seventh at the event with a 94-94 – 188 while Janae Champlin shot 99-102 – 201 for 10th.
Barton will get back into Jayhawk action at the end of the month with competition at the Coffeyville Country Club. The second conference meet will be Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
