Rain postpones Region VI Softball Tournament, Barton to begin play on Tuesday
BCC courgar-head

Heavy rain sweeping through the state has postponed the Region VI Division I Softball Tournament. The double-elimination tournament at El Dorado’s East Park is now scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 5, with the No. 9 ranked Barton Community College softball team’s title defense beginning at 5 p.m. against Garden City Community College.

The Lady Cougars, now 48-6 on the season, finished conference play this past Monday with pair of wins locking up the region’s second seed at 19-5 while Garden City finished in the seventh spot at 0-24 in Jayhawk play and 8-38 overall.

Should the Lady Cougars beat the Broncbusters, Barton will then play on Wednesday at 1 p.m. or in the event of a loss, will play the 9 a.m. game matched against the winner/loser of third seeded Colby Community College or sixth seeded Pratt Community College.
