Raygoza's grand slam, two homers spark Bat Cats

DERBY – It's Armani Raygoza's baseball world, we're just all living in it.

Great Bend Bat Cat Raygoza drilled a grand slam homer for the second consecutive night to ignite a dominating 15-2 rout over the Derby Twins.

Raygoza, batting. .381, homered twice, scored three runs and drove home five runs. Marshall Hale drove home three runs with three hits. Jake Tatom delivered four hits and scored three runs. Robby Bolin scored twice and drove in two runs with two hits.

Raygoza (.381) is leading the Sunflower League with Connor Chavez (.371) and Robby Bolin (.367) close behind.

Bat Cats pitcher Kyle Tinkler (3-0) struck out five batters in five innings. Paco Hernandez (1.29 ERA) threw two shutout innings. Chayse Gruber (0.90 ERA) and Tinkler (1.13 ERA) are among the leaders in earned run average.

The Bat  Cats (9-2) maintain a lead on the Kansas Cannons (7-2) for first place in the Sunflower Collegiate League. Great Bend plays Kingman Monday at home.

Connor Chavez, Tatom and Hale drove in first-inning runs. In a 9-run third inning, Raygoza’s grand slam joined a 2-run Bolin single and RBIs by Hale and Brady Kreutzer.

After Raygoza’s second homer, JoJo Nives and Nolan Bushko added sacrifice flies.
