Jaylin Stapleton capped off an amazing week of basketball by earning the NJCAA Player of the Week award.
The sophomore from Meade had two tremendous back-to-back outings in wins over Neosho and Cowley to start the post-season.
Stapleton scored 40 points in her final home game, a 114-102 win over Neosho. The 40 points was the second most in school history behind the 42 by Wendy Okeson back in 2000.
In the win, Stapleton made 17-of-19 free throws to set school records in free throws made in a game.
The followed that incredible performance with a triple double in Barton’s 81-75 win over Cowley to propel them to the Region VI semifinals.
In that game, Stapleton scored 26 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and handed out a career-high 12 assists.
