July 19, 2010 @ 9:40pm

On July 11 the Quicksilver 16 and under fastpitch softball team wrapped up their summer schedule at the Concordia Invitational 16/18 and under tournament.

Quicksilver went 2 and 1 in pool play defeating Kansas Heat 14-4, McPherson Lady Express 6-5, and losing to CW Blaze 11-16. Pool play ended in a three-way tie for 1st place when Quicksilver allowed one run more than the next team keeping them out of bracket play.

The team started their season at the Dodge City Miss Kitty Classic 16/18 and under tournament on June 5-6. There they took 4th place with a 3 and 2 record.

In pool play on that Saturday they defeated Holcomb 6-0 and North Platte 11-3 before falling to Garden City (the eventual winners of the tournament) 1-3. On that Sunday Quicksilver defeated Dodge City 3-1 and then lost out to Guymon 1-2.

On June 12 they traveled to Wichita to play in the TRYC Fun in the Sun tournament. On Saturday, Quicksilver went 1 and 2 in pool play, losing to Emporia and Valley Center before ending the day with a win over the Heartbreakers. No games were played on Sunday because of a rainout.

Quicksilver played in the Derby Summer Slam tournament on June 26-27.

There they went 4 and 1, winning 2nd place out of 13 teams. On Saturday, they were a perfect 3 and 0 in pool play defeating the PC Panthers 17-5, Emporia Energy 4-3 in extra innings, and Thunder 12-7. On Sunday Quicksilver defeated Derby 2-1 and lost in the championship game to the Valley Center Hornets by a score of 0-9.

The Quicksilver 16 and under team was coached by Brad Brack, Kent Tutak and Bernie Seiwert.
